Mix-Therapy

Thanks for checking out this page.  Here is a little description of what Mix-Therapy is about:

Have you found yourself struggling with mixes but can’t seem to figure out why?  Do you get stuck in the ‘leaves’, forgetting to look at the ‘forest’?  Do you know why you are using certain tools or approaches, or are you doing them because you saw someone else use them?

My goal with Mix-Therapy is to help you get over these stumbling blocks, use your tools to get the most out of your mixes, and to help you think about and understand why you are making the choices you are making in your mixing process.

We’ll do this through a live, interactive process using Zoom and an audio transmission plugin that will work in any DAW.  I’ll be listening to you and your audio in real time, and we’ll discuss and dissect the issues you are running into, with the goal of breaking the impasse and hopefully giving some insight to help not only in this mix, but in future ones.

I’m not going to do your mix for you, but I will point out areas of potential problems, challenge assumptions, extend the knowledge of your tools, and guide you to a solution that works in the context of your circumstances.

 Requirements

- Your DAW of choice

-  Zoom on the computer on which you run your DAW, and a path to transmit your voice to me [Skype or FaceTime].

- an internet connection fast enough to stream Zoom/Skype and audio at the same time.

- the Audiomovers plugin, so you can transmit your audio to me in real time [https://audiomovers.com].

- a working knowledge of your DAW, so we can focus on the music and not the workings of your particular program.

“I wanted to thank you for helping me focus more on the right stuff and trust more myself and the speaker that I love. This has been helping me a lot and it also keeps me more and more on the right instead of getting lost in my head…”  Charles-Emile B., Montreal, Canada

“I love that you were teaching me to listen when you were first here. Sitting down and listening to my space with these particular speakers, and trying all these different adjustments before even talking about mixing. I understand why and it has been invaluable.” Paul V., Los Angeles, CA
